Draining and refilling with fresh fuel, and keeping the tank reasonably full to reduce condensation space, helps prevent this.
Cause 6: An Altitude Setting Mismatch
Many diesel heaters, including higher-end VEVOR models, include an altitude adjustment setting or automatic altitude compensation. Air density affects the fuel-to-air ratio needed for reliable combustion. A unit moved to a very different elevation than its last setting may need this readjusted. Vibration during vehicle use or transport can gradually loosen a wiring connection at the controller or fuel pump over time, producing an intermittent starting failure that seems to happen randomly rather than consistently. A visual check of the main connectors, confirming each one is seated firmly, is worth doing if starting problems seem to come and go without an obvious pattern matching any of the causes above.
